Dear MLCers,

Today we are going to learn a new phrase, the writing is on the wall.

If someone says the writing is on the wall about something, they mean it looks likely that it will soon go wrong or come to an end altogether.

Examples:

  1. Now that air fares have come down so much, the writing is on the wall for the overnight train service.
  2. The writing is on the wall for my local football team; they’ve lost their last five games, so it looks likely they’ll go down to the second division!
  3. I have skipped so many EELC130 classes, the writing is on the wall I will fail it in the final exam.

To help you prepare for the final exams, I will give a talk on how to deal with the exam stress on Wednesday. There will be a dodge ball competition on the same day. Please join us and fight for your group!
