Dear MLC Students,
While you are studying hard, don’t forget about your health!
Health is the condition where your mind, body, and spirit are in. It is the prerequisite for you to do anything in your life. Only when you lose it, you know how valuable it is. So maintaining good health is the guarantee for you to study what you like to study, to live a great life, to work for/at your dream job, and to love the people who you beloved…
To help you maintain good health while studying hard, we have invited Dr. Larry Qingning Liang to share his secret with us on “how to exercise to your health” on Thursday 22/9/16 at 8:00pm in G009, Lib, W33. Mark your calendar and join the lecture/workshop to learn how to maintain your great health.
The English language table has been going on for a while. I can see our student’s English proficiency is improving after talking to you at the meal table everyday. Keep the secret, open your mouth and don’t hesitate to speak the language! Keep practicing and you will speak the language fluently!
Today we are going to practice how to ask for information. Sentence of the Day for Wednesday 21/9/2016 is:
Phrases for asking for information:
Can you tell me…(how to say… in Cantonese)?
Could you tell me…?
I’d like to know…
Do you know…?
Do you have any idea…? (about human brain…)
Could anyone tell me…?(use this phrase when asking a group of people)
Would you happen to know…?
I don’t suppose you (would) know…?
I was wondering…(if you are Chinese or Japanese)
I’m calling to find out…(use this phrase on the telephone)
Practice these sentences as often as you can until you can say them automatically. Try to use these phrases when you need to ask people for information.
Meanwhile, continue maintaining your cool manner: Greet people with smile and say when you meet at the meal table, or in MLC at any floor and anywhere:
Hello! How are you today! How are you doing today!
Good morning! Good evening! Good afternoon! Good night! Have a good day!
Have a good day!
