Dear MLC Students,
The English language table has been going on for four weeks. I am happy to see that more students are joining the practice. I promise you will speak the language fluently. There is no secret but open your mouth and speak the language often! Keep practicing and you will be fluent with the language!
Today we are going to practice how to initiate a conversation. Sentence of the Day for Thursday 22/9/2016 is:
Hello (or Hi)! Nice to meet you! My name is so and so. What’s your name?
My name is so and so. Nice to meet you, too!
Do you speak English (Mandarin, or Cantonese)?
Yes. I speak a little English (Mandarin, or Cantonese).
How do you say “Aomen” in English?
Do you speak Cantonese?
Yes, I do.
How do you say “Aomen Daxue” in Cantonese?
Nice chatting with you.
Practice these sentences as often as you can until you can say them out automatically. Try to use these phrases when you chat with people or with your meal mates at Food Paradise.
Remember your cool manner: Greet people with smile and say when you meet at the meal table, or in MLC at any floor and anywhere:
Hello! How are you today! How are you doing today!
Good morning! Good evening! Good afternoon! Good night! Have a good day!
Have a good day!
